Re: Transferring data from Keithley 2602A to PC

Which command interface to the 2602A are you using (gpib, rs232, Ethernet)? The error -420 on the read attempt is most likely because the instrument has nothing to say. This implies the previous command to print the buffer contents has failed to put anything in the output queue. Any error messages o...

Re: Limit 1 and Limit 2

The Reference manual has discussion on Limit Testing and Binning, pg 5-49. Suppose you manufacture a device with nominal 100 ohm value. With the two sets of limits you can determine “really good ones” such as limits of 99 and 101 and a second less good limit of 90 and 110. Pass both limits = really ...

Re: Disable front/rear inputs programatly (rs232) - Keithley 2000 DMM

That front/rear input terminals selector switch is a mechanical switch. It can’t be controlled programmatically. Since you are in ohms measure function, the meter will force some current, measure V and report R. In the data sheet you can see how much current is used by each ohms range, with lower ra...

Re: Assist to measure IV curve with KI2701 or KI487

The 2701 is a multi-channel, digital multi meter (DMM) type product. The 487 is a - with a DC voltage source. The 2701 is definitely not suitable to perform IV curve. If currents from your solar device are within the capability of the 487 - and you make a custom cable to combine the DC source with t...

Re: Can Series 2200 power supply allow reverse current?

The model 2230 is a "general purpose" power supply. It cannot accept power from external device; it cannot accept current.

Here is a product compare:

Re: Voltage Measurement during list sweep model

I do not have the high current 2651A model, but I do have the 2657A high voltage model. Both have the pair of 1MSample/sec digitizing A/D as well as the pair of integrating A/D. Here is some proof of concept code. I ran it from Test Script Builder prototyping tool. -- *******************************...

Re: Triax to coax adapter for 2470 SourceMeter

Sorry about that. Let me ask: if intending to use BNC, why not get a banana to bnc adapter and use the front terminals? What is the voltage rating of the coax cable/BNC connectors? Triax and high voltage becomes a complex topic when complying with modern safety considerations. There are a lot of tri...

Are you saying the Keithley Communicator cannot successfully run?
Or does the software run, but is not successful to connect to the 6485 over RS-232?

Re: Voltage Measurement during list sweep model

Seems like you are almost there. A two point list sweep can do this for you. If you went back to the png file, put red X where the measurements should occur. The 2651A has dual A/D; it can measure asynchronously from the sourcing, if you desire. With async and two point list, you can start measuring...

Re: How to pass a param to a running script

Depends on how the IV part is coded. If it is using a trigger model, you cannot really modify it on the fly. But if it is a simple loop to source and then measure N times, you should be able to modify the loop logic to check for an updated source value variable and have the smuX.source.levelX = Glob...

Re: Voltage Measurement during list sweep model

Let me clarify the goals before we adjust the code. Keep in mind, the fast ADC has max rate of 1MHz sample rate. Your requested measure interval is too fast. Also the fast ADC has only 5K buffer to support this max sample rate. After 5K readings, the ADC slows down to allow time for the data to stre...

Re: Measurement of Micro Ohm with DAQ6510 - Module 7700

If I understand correctly, you are presently using jumper wires inside the 7700 to connect the HI of chan 1 and 11 together and the LO of chan 1 and 11 together. And then you run a single pair of wires outside of the 7700 to the resistor DUT. This is not giving you lead wire error elimination benefi...

Re: Measurement of Micro Ohm with DAQ6510

The DAQ6510 has a 1 Ohm range with 1uOhm resolution. However, let's look at specs to have an idea of allowed error. The 1 year specs for 1 ohm range are: +/- (0.0085% of reading + 0.02% of range) Just the second term, 0.02% of 1 Ohm range, will give 200uOhm of allowed error. The DMM uses 10mA of exc...

Re: 6517B Get voltage and current for resistance measurement

Test fixture and electrode geometry notwithstanding, volume resistivity implies you will apply voltage on one side of material/DUT and measure the arriving current on other side of DUT. To exclude surface charge, the current measuring electrode is guarded by an electrode held at LO potential. You me...

Re: PWS2721 Current Sinking

Power supply typically does not sink power back from the DUT.

The Keithley 2280S can sink up to about 400mA. Also has 6.5 digit voltage and current measure resolution.
Next would be a SourceMeter which gives high degree of control on sinking.

Re: 6517B Get voltage and current for resistance measurement

For 6517B, resistance measure is typically on high resistance value such as insulation R, etc. Since high R materials often have strong voltage coefficient, the R is measured at particular Voltage level. Apply V, measure current (I) and compute R. The 6517B has a programmable DC voltage source and A...

Re: TSP script pulse and measuring simultaneously

You should be using smua.trigger.measure.xxx commands to get the measurements to occur during the pulse. The way your code is structured, the measurements do not even start until the waitcomplete() stops blocking. It does that only when the sweep is done. If you have the 26xxB models, check out the ...

Re: 2450 single channel measurement

How low of a current will you be measuring? How small of a change in value do you want to know about? Is the 150VDC floating? Our LO is isolated from chassis. Currents below about 100nA could get quite noisy and drifty on BNC. We have low noise BNC. If BNC is suitable, the easiest is to abandon the ...

Re: What is the internal difference between voltage and current source?

When SMU is operated as a current source, you have the source accuracy spec and even the current measure spec (if doing source read back) vs. the compliance limit accuracy of a voltage source deliberately operated in compliance. Also, transition of voltage source to current compliance limiting “curr...
