Re: Need latest TLA715 BIOS

As it turns out is was a bad contact somewhere in the removable drive bay. I mounted the hard drive in the internal drive and that works correctly.

Re: Need latest TLA715 BIOS

I also need this! I have a TLA715 mainframe but it does not recognize the hard drives properly. It seems there is some bug in the BIOS which gets the LBA translation wrong. I tried several hard drives but none works properly. I've noticed there is also a version 1.00.3 offered on internet.

Re: Recommendation

I wouldn't be so sure about the gold standard. When it comes to price and features Tek's low end range up to the TDS3000 series is already overtaken by various Chinese manufacturers which are OEMs for the other big test instruments brands. There are many professionals on Eevblog so it's not just abo...

Better ask this question on the forum of www.eevblog.com . Lots of electronics engineers who test their equipment to the limits.

Any change to post a list of addresses for the TDS510A? I still need to recover the FFT option on mine.

Re: TDS5xx mono CRT adjustment

I'd take the driver board out and put it next to the scope on the bench. With the monochrome driver board you don't need to disconnect the anode (HV) to the display.

Re: First Oscilloscope - need help deciding!

Those scopes are quite old. I wouldn't spend a lot on either because a brand new Chinese digital scope can be bought for little money. I'd also buy new probes because used probes are like used shoes. Old, dirty and smelly. And its very likely there is something wrong with the probes which come with ...

Re: Console port for TDS5/7xxD oscilloscopes

Very interesting. I have a TDS510A (a model from the mid 90's) which has lost option 2F and I would like to get it back. How did you find out the offsets?

Re: TDS-524A no trace

I'd try the tek secure erase. This should reset everything to factory default. I think there is a setting somewhere you overlook. Maybe the horizontal position?

Re: Tektronix TDS 210 Recall

The problem with the TDS200 series is noise, B&W display and no memory depth the speak of. A TDS200 series scope really is a waste of money. For the same amount of money you can get a new scope from Rigol, Siglent, etc which offers much more value for money like a large memory depth, color display (...

Re: Tektronix TDS 210 Recall

I think you should be able to find more info on the Tektronix website. My word of advice though: don't buy this scope. Its probably the worst scope Tek ever made. Better go for a good TDS500 or TDS700 series used scope or a new MSO/DPO 2000 series.

There are many websites which have similar information. You better team up with them. Regarding your problem I suggest running the SPC.

Re: TDS 500 600 700 calibration/options affected by new NVRAM?

I wouldn't rely on the information in the manuals. For instance the manuals say that the options for the TLA700 logic analyzer acquisition modules are stored in NVRAM but (fortunately) they are not.

Re: TDS620B color on vga, possible ?

It is not possible. And even if it where possible the VGA color output is buggy. I have a similar color and B&W oscilloscope. The colors often get messed up when using the VGA port. The advantage of the B&W versions is that the scope displays the previous acquisition so you can compare. The colors s...

Re: Tds220 vs tds1002

I wouldn't bother with TDS200, TDS1000 and TDS2000 series. These scopes have no acquisition memory to speak of which is a big handicap. If you want a cheap scope get one from Rigol, Owon, etc. Or buy a Tektronix TDS500, 600 or 700 series if you want 4 channels.

Re: How to use a 10x probe with TDS640?

Google for probe compensation. There should be an adjustment on the probe and/or the connector. Connect the probe to the 'probe compensation' output of the scope. Get a nice reading on screen. Now adjust until you have a proper square wave. http://scope-probe-schematic.blogspot.com/ Every oscillosco...

Re: How risky is buying older analogue Tektronix scopes?

If a switch or pot is bad then the contact material has worn out or is corroded. Contact cleaner is basically and acid solution to dissolve metal oxides. It will make a switch work for a while. However the acid will continue to dissolve the metals of the contact. When used on a good contact it will ...

Did you find this thread?

If you create an account on edaboard you can also see the attachments. AFAIK there is a PLD in the 271x spectrum analyzers which often fails. Someone posted diagrams on edaboard on how to fix this using standard chips.
