Python: MSO5 Series Hardcopy to PC

Not much different than the other Windows Scopes. May want to delete the temporary image file of the Oscilloscope when this is done as well. This has been tested with the Linux OS. Not yet tested with the Windows 10 scope option yet. #-----------------------------------------------------------------...

Re: DPO7104 math waveform

There is no reason you have to use the channel that is your input as part of the formula for what gets written to the output. On the first pass through you are given the sample rate and record length. With those alone you could write a function to putout whatever you wanted, never touching the input...

Re: Update firmware failure

Doesn't look good for your scope. It will have to go back to the factory to get fixed from that one.

Re: How to trigger on period

If you have a known duty cycle, then you can use the pulse width trigger, and trigger when the pulse width is less than a given time i.e. less than 8 ms, or a pulse width that is not equal to a certain time. There are other ways you could do this on higher end scopes as well, but I think that will b...

Re: Issue on Ethernet 100Base-TX eye diagram

The client's capture is a Tektronix scope, just an older version. There is definitely noise getting into the RX setup. On the client setup, they are using a math channel, which would indicate they are using two single ended probes and doing a differential measurement rather than using a true differe...

Re: TDS3014B Frozen display after boot

Your firmware image is corrupted. (if it was hanging at just the splash screen, then it could be hardware or software). Unfortunately because it locks up, you won't be able to reload the firmware through the floppy drive. It will probably have to be sent in to service for repair.

Try using "Save:Image <filename>", then you only have to worry about configuring the 'save:image:format'

Re: MDO3014 split screen issues

Time correlation of RF domain and time domain are a feature of the MDO4K Series, the MDO3K will not do the split screen. It's one function or the other.

Those are all DPO4K options, not on the 3000 series. I think I found the ebay listing you mention, but I don't see where they state those options.

Re: 2465 50ohm input issue

Are you saying that with your probe, when you switch the scope to 50 ohms, that the voltage is incorrect? If so, that is normal. The probes are expecting a 1M impedance on the input, so if you drop it to 50 ohms, you have changed the voltage divider (for 10X probes at least, I would think 1x would b...

Re: Listening for scope events

Unfortunately there is not an interrupter condition that you can wait on, except for queering *OPC?, and waiting for it to respond with a 1, when the operation is completed (e.g. a single shot acquisition has been acquired). This will timeout however if it takes longer than your visa timout is set to.

Re: time-value mapping of arbitrary waveform

You would run out of memory depth very quickly for low frequency signals using that approach. The sample rate your file plays at is as you describe. I find it easier to think of it as how much time does my signal play for, then enter the parameter in that way, instead of as in frequency. Arbitrary w...

Re: Trigger Pulse Caputre

Kind of a manual way to do it, but you can place the cursors on the rising and falling edges of the pulse to gate the waveform region needed, then when you save the waveform in the dialog box you can select to gate it to be between the cursors. Programmatically, if you were to automate this there ar...

Re: MSO/DPO/MDO 4000 Series Intermittent USB Communication

It's probably an issue with the USB-TMC server running inside the scope, not with your code. Sometimes you can do error checking on the viRead, where you try it again if the read fails. Sometimes simply closing your session and reopening it to the scope corrects the issue, but sometimes the scope ju...

Re: Query error while acquiring waveform from TDS3012B

We would need to know what commands are being sent by the example program. If there is hardware missing, then maybe it's trying to use something from the option Comm module (Which gives GPIB and RS232 ports to the instrument), or maybe even write something to the floppy disk. Run you IO Trace (or NI...

Re: Measuring Current with Voltage Probe across sense resistor

You could setup a math trace, with the definition being CH(x)/(your resistance value) so you actually get current, and then set the units as needed.

I believe the Excel Toolbar is open source, so you could look it it. Granted, the syntax here is for VBA, but you should be able to follow the same procedures.

Re: Data Acquire after a new Trigger Event

You will probably want to run the scope in single shot mode, arm the trigger, then poll the acquisition state to know when the trigger is done. These done with the ACQUIRE:STATE commands/queries. You can get the full syntax for them in your scopes programmer manual.
