As an update to this post, I still cannot figure out how to rename a battery model, but the 710 error was due to data not following the ascending/descending values as expected for the VOC and ESR values respectively. I was using data posted in another thread for the Panasonic CR123A battery,

The 2281S simulator will not accept these values as valid. They are not descending for voltage and ascending for resistance as per the requirements. There are some outliers in the data. Any suggestions to improve this model?

[2281S] - How can I specify a battery model name in internal memory using SCPI?

I am sending the VOC and ESR entries through the appropriate BATT:MOD<number> commands, but I cannot seem to find the appropriate command to edit the model name in internal memory before saving it in the device. As a result saving the model fails with error number 710 "Illegal model data setting".
