Re: TekScope Utility Support

You don't specifically need NI-VISA, just a VISA that supports the IVI Standard VISA.NET interface. NI-VISA is what the program was developed using so I know it works, but in theory it should work with other vendor's VISA as long as VISA.NET is supported. For example, it should work with the latest ...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi Mark, You definitely have a VISA issue there which is common when you have more than one VISA installed (I have TekVISA and NI-VISA installed at the same time too so I've encountered some of these problems as well). I think what is happening is that NI-VISA is providing the VISA.NET interface tha...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi Garwing, You said your scope was a TBS1052B. Is this an EDU model or a non-EDU model? I see a note in the programmer's manual that that command is not supported on non-EDU models. If you have an EDU model then that would explain it. If this is the case, I thought I had taken care of that, but loo...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi garwing, I haven't used a TBS1000B Series scope in a while so I can say for sure, but those times seem in the ballpark. A lot of the overhead is just in the processing of the commands by the scope. If you time the actual time it takes for purely the transfer itself, RiB is less time than ASCII, b...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hmm... OK your ID string is exactly the format that is expected so that isn't the issue. I looked over the code and that error message comes from the following sources. The ID string does not consist of 4 parts <Manufacturer>,<Model>,<Serial>,<Software> The manufacturer is not Tektronix (note: lette...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi ta1mua, This usually happens when the instrument returns an unrecognized ID Query string when the software connects to it. If you can, please open your VISA interactive panel and send *IDN? to the instrument and read back the response and post it in here. I'd like to see what your scope is sendin...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi TekJared, Looks like you have some VISA issues to sort out. The message about "No vendor-specific VISA .NET implementation is installed." you received is because TekVISA does not support the IVI Standard VISA.NET interface which TekScope Utility uses so this is expected if you only have TekVISA i...

Re: Connect DMM6500 connect to PC used C#

Hi Andrew, You can find C# examples in the post at the following URL. https://forum.tek.com/viewtopic.php?f=580&t=133570#p269566 These will help you with learning to control instruments in C#. As for a VISA library... Since you wish to control instruments I'd recommend using the NI-VISA library, but...

Re: Python 3: Save Hardcopy to PC, PyVISA - MSO/DPO 5K 7K 70K Series Scopes

Note: On scopes running Windows 10 you can no longer save the hardcopy directly to C:\ due to the default permissions settings in Windows. If you try you will likely notice the scope giving a GDI+ error when you send the HARDCOPY START command. The simplest solution is to instead save to C:\Temp\ f...

Re: TekScope Utility Bug Reports

Hi MiMatt,

The colors of the waveforms on the Waveform tab of TekScope Utility are assigned automatically by the Microsoft Chart control. This is why they don't match. I could tweak the code to explicitly assign them colors to match the scope. Something for me to consider for next release.

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi MiMatt, Thanks for the kind words. For the Auto Fetch Delay setting on the DataLogger I have the program using values that seemed to work on the limited number of scopes I was able to test with, but the Auto setting is by no means guaranteed to work. I put the manual fetch delay setting in there ...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi brccd00, TekScope Utility requires VISA software that supports the IVI Standard VISA.NET library. This VISA software can be from any vendor as long as the vendor includes VISA.NET support. NI-VISA is the recommended VISA. As for use on a 32-bit machine... I'm really not sure if it will work or no...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi Patrick, That error originates from VISA. It seem that communication with the scope was lost for some reason. I can only speculate as to why that would happen, but it has nothing to do with TekScope Utility. I will make a note for the next release that I should add functionality to the DataLogger...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Ahh, it sounds like the delay I have for Auto is a little too short then. Thanks for letting me know. I will make sure to bump it up a little higher in the next release.

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi Patrick, The issue is your fetch delay setting. You have unchecked Auto and are using 200ms. On the DPO2002B 200ms of fetch delay is not enough delay for the scope to finish processing the acquisition, calculate the measurement values, update the values on screen and make them available for retri...

Re: LabVIEW Save Hard Copy to PC - MSO/DPO/MDO 2K 3K 4K & MSO/DPO 5K 7K 70K Series Scopes

Note: if your 5K 7K 70K etc. scope is running Windows 10, then you will need to change the path the temporary file is saved to. In this example I wrote the file to "C:\Temp.png". Windows 10 does not allow the scope software to write to the root of the drive. Because of this you should see an error m...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi Tim, Yes, 20M points is a lot to save into a .CSV file format and takes considerable amount of time. Especially when it is 4 channels worth! The time it takes to save to .CSV is one of the reasons why I intentionally limited the max record length that could be transferred to 20M points. Saving to...

Re: TekScope Utility Support

Hi Suyashlahoti, TekScope Utility will try it's best to gather the data once every second, but ultimately the maximum speed it can go depends on how quickly the scope you are using responds to commands and transfers data. I see in your screenshot that you are using a TBS 1154 and are transferring ha...

Re: TekScope Utility Bug Reports

Hi stjude1982, The Serial settings (Data Bits, Stop Bits, etc...) are only relevant to serial COM port connections (i.e. RS-232) so these do not affect USB connections. The message you saw, "The resource is valid, but VISA cannot currently access it.," is a VISA error and not a TekScope Utility erro...
