Re: keithley 6487 measuring current at 5 kV

do you need an external source of 5kV? Or do you need to float the 6487 at 5kV? Model 6487 has its own voltage source built in. With a max output of 500V. But if you are testing at DUT at 5kV, then make sure you do not float the 6487 at more than 500V. Attached is a document showing a protection cir...

Response to load changes on Model 2200 power supplies.

The issue is the 2200 supply channel control circuit reacts quickly to the very large load current change. For example... 10mA to an 1A. That is a factor of 100. All supplies will have a transient response to the large load change. Then the supply will take some time to recover. Reducing the source ...

Re: KEITHLY 2100 100MOhm range adjustment

100M range calibration adjustment. Steps 31 and 32 need to be performed. This is usually the issue. Need to perform steps 31 and 32 in the calibration procedure. Basically, you do not use the actual calibrator output. You use 99.99750 no matter what the calibrator output is. And the calibrator is in...

Re: 6514 over RS-232 and ExceLINX driver problem

I would go with the WIN 7 machine, if you can.
And the KUSB-488A is not supported in WIN 10.
Also the Kickstart software does not yet support the Model 6514.
Software could be the Labview driver as it has some examples. But you need Labview.

Hello Reed, I used this SCPI command sequence and then applied 37 separate trigger pulses. Then got the 37 measurements from the buffer. *RST :INIT:CONT OFF :SENSE:FUNC 'VOLT' :SENSE:VOLT:RANGE 0.01 :VOLT:NPLC 0.1 :TRIG:SOURCE EXT :TRIG:COUNT 37 :TRIG:DEL 0.0 :TRAC:POINTS 37 :TRAC:FEED SENSE1 :TRAC:...

Looks like you have to have a command to encompass the entire scan list.
Like this.
:ROUTE:SCAN (@101:115)
That should do it.

I ran a crude Labview 2016 VI to do this. It is attached. But here are the DDC command codes to show that Q7 works. F0,1X Source Volt measure Current B0,0X Set Bias level to 0V Q1,1,10,0,500X Set linear stair sweep from 1V to 10V in 1V steps with 0.5seconds delays Q7,2,4,1,0,500X Append linear start...

Re: Effective input resistance in current mode at high temp

The effect on input resistance is not so much the ambient temperature as the internal temperature on the unit(6514). As long as the unit(6514) is warmed up, usually about one hour, the input resistance should not be affected much. Here is the input resistance calculation of the Model 6487 in current...

Re: Advanced Scan Syntax

One of the errors is four wire measurement on slot two at channels 11 and 12. This is the 7700 card with only 20 two pole channels. So channel 11 would pair channel 21 when there is no channel 21. That is probably the -221 error. The -104 error is a syntax error. I noticed that the command :FUNC TEM...

Re: taking 100 DCV measurements with constant duration using Keithley 2700

Start off the program sequence of commands with a
*RST
Then when ready to take data send the
:INIT
command.
Then when you want the data send
:TRACE:DATA?
That should send back all 100 points of measurement stored in the buffer when addressed to talk.
Hope this helps.

Re: Keithley 2410 sweep time much longer than it should be

There are a number of parameters that affect the system speed. 1. NPLC- Number of Power Line Cycles. This is only part of the A/D conversion process. So 1PLC does not mean it will be 16.67msec per reading. 2. Ranging - Auto range can cause delays. For more precise timing use fixed range. 3. Auto Zer...

sounds like you are using the SIMulated reference junction on the Model 2000 for thermocouples. Suggestion... If you do not have a Model 2001TCSAN card with a CJC for the reference junction, I would suggest to let the Model 2000 warm up for one hour and use the SIM reference temperature of 27 or 28C...

Re: compatibility issue

Is Model 6517A set for GPIB? If so, what address?(default is 27).
Since you have NI-VISA, you should have NI-MAX.
Use NI-MIX to see if you can control the 6517A with *IDN?
