Re: 2-wire and 4-wire Voltage measurements

For sinking applications like using it as a load (in your case), it would be useful to Sink Mode as a benefit to accuracy (as well as remote sense). You can do this via the front panel by pressing Config -> SRC -> V-Source -> Sink Mode -> Enable and hit enter. Then exit back to the main screen. Alte...

Re: 2-wire and 4-wire Voltage measurements

When you mention having Channel B be a load, do you mean that it is sinking current? If so, how much and what are your voltage readings compared to what you expect? I would expect that Remote Sense (4 wire) would help here as you would then remove the error term from the voltage dropped across your ...

Re: k236 Pulse Mode for Gate switching FEt

Darren, I was not able to find an app note for something similar out of a Model 236. But are you using a 236 or a 2636? I ask this because you mention a 236A and while we have a 2636A, there was not a 236A produced. If using 2636, http://www.keithley.com/support/data?asset=50964 is an example progra...

A fatal error indicates that the unit needs to come in for repair. Please contact your local service center about setting up an RMA for that 2635.

Re: SourceMeter Operational

If you are attempting to source current not connected anything, you are trying to source current into an open. So, it will try as hard as it can (until it reaches the Compliance voltage you have set), but ultimately not be able to reach that current as there is no path to flow. Try just shorting the...

Re: Can't add new virtual device (6487)

On an XP machine, you should be able to set up serial communications for basic send/receive through either PuTTY which would open a command window or even easier would be HyperTerminal which should come standard in XP. Again, I don't know how those work with USB-RS232 devices though. Yes, we support...

Re: Line Transient Using Keithley 2602A

Luis,

The 2602A can pulse, but it cannot control the rise or fall times of its pulses. For something like that, you would need a dedicated pulse generator such as a 3401. There you can control the rise/fall parameters.

As is now standard in the test and measurement industry, we do not release schematics to our instruments. For some of the older instruments, they will be available in their service or user manuals.

Re: Is 6517bmodel can be used for four probe method

The 6517B itself cannot be used for a four point probe as it measures resistance by sourcing voltage and measuring current. When measuring current with the 6517B, you have to break the circuit like with any ammeter and put the meter in series to produce your measurement. For a four point probe, you ...

Re: Error Message in LabTracer 2.9

Technically LabTracer is not supported in Windows 7. It may work and it may have some issues, each computer is different. I have attached a project.lua file from a working installation of LabTracer 2.9. I had to name it project.x so that it would attach here, but you can perhaps go into C:\Program F...

Re: Need help for 2651A labview program

Unfortunately I'm unable to get my hands on a 2651A to troubleshoot your program at this moment. Do you have a full version of VISA? If so, could you run an NI Spy capture and attach that file (the full spy file, not a .txt) so that I can find the error and provide a suggestion as to what to change ...

Re: 2002 DMM and PC

That is not an RS-232 connector on the Model 2002. It is a 9 pin D-sub with 4 digital outputs and one digital input. You can use them to control external circuitry, typically relays or even possibly to do some triggering. It is not a port for remote control of the Model 2002 like the RS-232 ports on...

Re: Labtracer output enable

LabTracer does not contain all of the features for the 2400 line. It contains everything needed for basic sweeping and sourcing, however Output Enable is not one of the features. It is based on LabView, so you could see if you can edit it at all adding the SCPI command :OUTP:ENAB:STAT 1 For customiz...

Re: 2636A USB filename

I would try something like concatenating a date/time into the filename using the standard Lua os.date() command. I've attached a basic .tsp example that should do just that. The method I use there will be fine provided you don't run the script more than once a minute. You can add in seconds and what...

Re: Need help for 2651A labview program

Try this instead. You had just put a string in where it was looking for a VISA Resource. I added a control so that you can do that how you wish from the front panel, but also, the string constant you had was missing a colon. It should be GPIB0::26::INSTR. The first grouping only had one. Let me know...

Re: Switch off 2420 when voltage compliance detected

I would look at using the sweep operation to accomplish this as there is an Abort On Compliance feature. Even though this is called a sweep, you could just set it to a 1 point sweep of your desired length. Page 10-5 of the User Manual linked below explains the options of Abort on Compliance and then...

Re: Can't add new virtual device (6487)

At the driver page, are you selecting the Auto-Select Driver option or manually selecting the Model 6487 option? If your adapter has more settings, it should be set to Parity - None, Stop Bits - 1, Data Bits 8. As always, make sure that you have configured the communications setup of the instrument ...

Re: Connections of plug-in card 3730 ST

The DMM in the 3706 will know to associate your standard Hi/Lo connections with the I-source and the Sense lines with a voltage measurement. You must remember here that you have a matrix card, so you must make sure whatever row/column contains your Sense connections is connected to the Sense Row (2 ...

Re: Connections of plug-in card 3730 ST

Sense are the Remote sense leads in a 4 wire connection. If testing a resistor, the main 2 lines are where the current is sourced, and the sense leads are the voltage sensing leads.
