Re: Kickstart connection with 2602A

Hi Michel, You'll have to use LAN or GPIB as the 2602A does not have a USB communication port. If you use LAN, there may be a slight delay in KickStart discovering the instrument. You may need to press the "Refresh Instrument Discovery" button in the top menu bar more than once. Make sure that you c...

Re: Keithley Kickstart Software

Hi Melegaunt, KickStart does not presently have the capability to highlight the (0,0) axis. I'd like to input your request as a product enhancement request. Would you please provide me with a bit more detail on your test, such as the instrument that you are using with KickStart, and the types of mea...

Re: Can KICKSTART software be useful for DAQ f current signal from 657B Electrometer?

Hi Jagadeesh, I apologize for the tardy reply. KickStart supports the Model 6517B in making resistivity measurements on insulating materials using the optional High Resistance Measurement Application (Model KICKSTARTFL-HRMA). KickStart does not presently support general purpose measurements using th...

Re: 2281S - Update internal web site w/o Java

Hi Klaas, I apologize for the delay in responding. We understand the incompatibility issues with the use of Java runtime that is used in our embedded software and modern browsers. We are currently investigating our options for a solution. Right now, as you noted in your post the workaround is to use...

Also, the "delay" parameter does control the approximate time between data points. If you want 1 sec delay between data points, then set the delay to 1 sec.

Re: Measuring more than 10k values over time

HI allse87, You are correct. The current limitation of data points is 10k. There are a variety of reasons for this limitation. We are working to increase the number of data points KickStart can store in a future version. However, that won't help your immediate test needs. I'll send you a private mes...

Re: Kickstart & other instruments support

Hi Giaime, Currently KickStart does not support third-party instruments or the ability to create and load custom programs. The "Import plug in" is intended for future use and is currently inactive. However, we certainly appreciate your excellent feedback and enhancement requests for future editions ...

Re: Please make new driver for 6517B

Hello All, A new driver is now available for the Model 6517B. It is available from NI's instrument driver network site. You should be able to find it within Labview using the Instrument Driver Finder. You can download the driver here: http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_...

Re: KUSB-488A driver.

Hello, Unfortunately, this link was broken in the recent website update. In the United States, www.keithley.com was incorporated into www.tek.com as Keithley is now part of Tektronix. I'm not sure of the operating system that you have to recommend the appropriate driver, but here is a link to the se...

Re: Please make new driver for 6517B

Hi dubuisgu,

Thank you for your honest feedback. I had not taken a look at the driver, but just noticed that a Labview 2015 version was available. We will definitely look into updating our Labview Drivers.

Regards,

Jennifer

Hi dubuisgu,

Please be aware that NI has an updated LabVIEW driver for the Model 6517B posted on their Instrument Driver Network. You can access that driver here:

Re: 2612A and 2602A current oscillation

Hello Janmet,

Thanks for the update. I'd still like to investigate use of the SMUs for gate charge measurement. It will be some time before I am able to perform this test. I will post another reply when I have a chance to run the test.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Re: 2612A and 2602A current oscillation

Hello Janmet, I'm happy to hear that adding a series resistor reduced the problem. What value resistor did you try? You might also try High-C mode, which lowers the bandwidth of the SMU analog circuit. You can enabled High-C mode using the command: smua.source.highc = smua.ENABLE. Read more about Hi...

Re: GPIB board programming

Hello Alaayesh, The Rarray command is used to retrieve data in binary format. If you are trying to retrieve data in ASCII or string formatting, you will want to use the ENTER command. Too, you should be able to use the SEND command to query the oscilloscope. Lastly, the ":TRACE?" query is a SCPI que...

Re: 2612A and 2602A current oscillation

Janmet, There are a couple of things to consider: (1) SMU Transient Response Time: The specification for the Series 2600A SMUs states "<70 microseconds for the output to recover to within 0.1% for a 10% to 90% step change in load." As the transistor turns on, the drain current rises sharply and the ...

Re: 2612A and 2602A current oscillation

Hello Janmet, This is an interesting problem. I'm not surprised by the ringing, or oscillation at the beginning of the drain voltage and current pulses, but I am surprised by the ringing that occurs AFTER the gate is fully charged and the drain is settled. I'd like to look more closely at this probl...

Re: Guarding

I would agree that thee language in the 6514 Manual is a bit misleading. The page you refer to in that manual refers to Guard as a feature of the Model 6514 that can be enabled or disabled. However, Guarding is also a measurement technique. As Dale explained earlier in this topic, guarding is a meth...

Re: Triggered measurement output to RS232 port

You are correct in understanding that with the Model 6485, you can only retrieve data after the instrument returns to the idle state. It cannot perform measurements and output data to the PC at the same time.

Re: Themperature measurement with nV-meter 2182

Hi hajek1, Thank you for the additional information. All I needed was the graph. It is interesting that the readings jump back and forth for 40 seconds. However, you should know that the jump observed is within specification for the instrument. For K type thermocouples, the Model 2182A Nanovoltmeter...
