3721 fails to engage backplane switch

Dear Web Forum, I am using a 3706 System Switch with firmware version 1.41c. There are four 3721 relay cards installed in slots 1,2,3,4 and 6. A new application, I am developing in LabVIEW, uses the backplane switches (X911, X921) to be able to multiplex the first relay bank (X001-X004) and (X011-X0...

Re: MDO3014 Command Synchronization

Dave, Thanks for your response. I understand the limitations of using the *OPC command. I tried enabling the OPC bit using the DESE, *ESE 1 and *ESE 32 commands but without much success, (it works fine when using the *RST command). I also tried using LabVIEW VISA service request but always end up ad...

Re: MDO3000 firmware v1.24 has issues

David N, I did not use the HEADER OFF command in my scope setup script because I was using *RST to set the MDO3014 to the factory defaults. According to Appendix C of the Programmer's Manual, using *RST defaults the HEADER to 0 (OFF). This approach works with firmware v1.22. However, it does not wor...

Re: 2612B Synchronization Method

Brian, I have 3 automated test stations two of them have an SMU2612A and a TDS3052C oscilloscope the third ATS has an SMU2612B and a MDO3014 scope. These automated test systems measure the electrical performance of solid state relays. The input of each relay is an opto-coupler diode which enables tw...

MDO3014 Command Synchronization

I am using LabVIEW 2016 to program the setup of an MDO3014 and a TDS3052C. The wait for the commands processing time to finish for either scope have been hard coded. This is not the best way to synchronize the scope operation with the execution of the next vi. I have enclosed a zip file containing t...

2612B Synchronization Method

I am using LabVIEW 2016 to measure a diode breakdown voltage using both SMU2612A & SMU2612B, I have enclosed a PDF of the vi. The vi shows a hard-coded delay of 300 ms. This is not the best way to control the timing of the SMU operations. What would be the preferred way to synchronize command comple...

MDO3000 firmware v1.24 has issues

The recently released firmware MDO3000 v1.24 has affected the operation of the MDO3014 we use to measure time delay. For example when the scope is queried with the command > EVM? <, it returns: :EVMSG 0, "No events to report-queue empty" The scope response erroneously inserts the prefix > :EVMG < wh...

How to use the MDO3012 to display an eye diagram

I would appreciate your assistance on setting and MDO3014 to display an eye diagram.
If this is not possible, which would be an appropriate oscilloscope to perform this measurement?
Thanks

Searching for waveform falling edge

I have a LabVIEW automated application in which I use an MDO3014 to measure the time delay (turn off and turn on time) and falling time of the trailing edge of a waveform. The reference signal is a 5V, 40ms pulse which is displayed on CH1. The signal of interest tracks the reference and is displayed...

Re: PNP Collector Emitter breakdown voltage

Andrea, Thanks for your response. I agree with you. Last week I thought it over and I was convinced that there is no imperative need to use a function generator to implement the BJT parameter measurements. So, i defined the ATS configuration to use the SMU rather that the FG. Our BJT automated test ...

How to configure scope for burst time mesurement

An MDO3014 scope is being used to measure the burst generated when a 1 Amp controller output it shorted using an electronic load. The scope screen is enclosed. The signal burst width needs to be measured between the 10% level of the signal rise and the 90% level of the signal rise. A second required...

Re: PNP Collector Emitter breakdown voltage

Andrea, Rather than using the SMU 2612B channel A to source a -10mA, 500µs pulse into the base of the PNP transistor, could it be possible to configure the test setup using a function generator? In this case the FG is programmed to apply a +5V, 500µs pulse to the transistor base terminal via a 500 o...

Re: 3721 Switch Configuration

Andrea, I found the answer to my quandary on how to implement the 1 x 40 multiplexing on the 3721 card. It turns out the interlock Hi and Lo pins for each bank need to be connect together via an external jumper. For Bank 1 the jumper is placed between pins 33 and 50. For Bank 2 the jumper needs to b...

Re: 3721 Switch Configuration

Andrea, One more thing, I used the 3706 web browser to design the test signal path, is a good tool to scan the relay chain to verify the routing between instruments and DUTs. However, I have not been able to get the back-plane switches (X911-X917, X921-X927) to close for any of the 3721 cards I have...

Re: 3721 Switch Configuration

Andrea, Thank you for your prompt response. We have three 3706 with the DMM option. For our current application the DMM it is not used. We actually utilize SMU 2612s to perform our voltage and current measurements. We need the accuracy and speed of the 2612 SMUs. Last night, before I went home i rea...

Re: 3721 Switch Configuration

I read the user's manual and was able to understand what the back-plane switches do. They are used to connect external equipment to the 3721 via the DB15 analog back-plane connector at the rear of the 3706. Therefore, I was incorrect in trying to use the back-plane switches to configure the 3721 car...

3721 Switch Configuration

The Keithley 3721 Dual 1 x 20 Multiplexer card specification states that it can be configured to have two independent banks for a 1 x 20 setup each or a single 1 x 40 setup. I am not clear on how to configure the 1 x 40 setup. For my application I need to configure a 3721 in the third slot of a 3706...

Web interface to 3706 & 3706A

Kenneth and xys6692,

I have a solution to Java blocking the 3706/3706A browser. It is simple, in the Java Control Panel modify the security level from Very High to High or/and add the IP address of the 3706/3706A to the Exception Site List. See enclosed WORD file.

Regards,

Jaime Arevalo
