Re: rsa306 - Error 302 when setting rbw to 8

SignalVu-PC allows you to set RBW down to 1Hz when the Span is <=1MHz.

Re: rsa306 - Error 302 when setting rbw to 8

From the API manual (page 88), users can use SPECTRUM_GetLimits to get the limit of the spectrum settings. The limit table shows the minimum rbw can be set using API is 10 Hz.

Re: Measuring Low 2nd Harmonic Tone without a Filter

The RSA306B doesn't give you any user control over the front-end gain stages like the higher performance products do. The front-end gain settings, amplifier selection, etc. is purely under control of the Reference Level setting. The only resort you have with the RSA306B is to increase the Reference ...

Re: Warm Up period and capturing data

I agree with you, and I've previously made that request. I'm not sure if there is a temperature sensor in the unit that can be read for this purpose.

Re: Measuring Low 2nd Harmonic Tone without a Filter

The RSA30B includes a broadband preamplifier before the pre-selection filters. This preamp is enabled automatically at low reference level settings. It is likely that when you're trying to measure the low level 4.4GHz signal in the presence of the 2.2GHz fundamental, you've got the reference level s...

Re: Warm Up period and capturing data

Hello Brian, The "warm up" period is a simple 30 minute timer within SignalVu-PC. If you happen to close and re-open SignalVu-PC, the timer restarts, even if the RSA306B remains plugged in. The RSA306B features a 40MHz realtime bandwidth. Whenever the span (or acquisition BW) is set to 40MHz or less...

Re: wide blurry trace tek 2445 scope

My first thought is that the power supply for the x-axis amplifier / driver has a bad filter capacitor and thus has a lot of ripple on it.

Re: New RSA603A gives faulty EVM measurements

To close this thread - the issue turned out to be with the use of the Adaptive Equalizer. The EQ was enabled and trained before the Alignment was run. Then, after the Alignment was performed, the EQ filter coefficients were no longer applicable, thus the signal was being distorted. The lessons are: ...

Re: .TIQ file format

The TIQ format is not published, but there are certainly ways of dealing with it. The first part of the file is a ASCII/XML header which contains setup information for the instrument used for the acquisition, followed by a binary block of IQ data. Your local application engineer can provide you with...

Re: New RSA603A gives faulty EVM measurements

Very interesting - it sounds like the internal alignment data in your unit is corrupt. I haven't seen that happen before, but that looks like the likely cause for the problem you're seeing.

Re: New RSA603A gives faulty EVM measurements

I've been running my RSA607A for a few hours under the same conditions and haven't seen this issue pop up. Might I suggest adding the DPX display - if the RSA hardware is producing bad RF data to the PC, it should show up in the DPX display. This might help to narrow down whether the problem is in t...

Re: Trigger data saved to .csv

The RSA306 and SVPC can get you part of the way there using the Mask Search (Tools > Mask Search). You can define the mask search criteria as simple level threshold across your span of interest, or define it as a arbitrary mask to search for particular frequencies at particular amplitudes. Once you'...

Re: How to do Zero span measurement with RSA306 and SignalVu-PC

You are correct - the span of the Spectrum display can't be adjusted to zero. The right way to do this measurement is with the Amplitude vs. Time display. The Time Overview display is used to setup the time domain parameters (analysis length, offset with respect to trigger, etc.). The waveform in th...

Re: TEKVISA doesn't Detect RSA306

When using TekVISA to communicate with the RSA306B, programmatic control via SignalVu-PC is the correct way to go. The programmers manual can be found here:

Re: Window Arrangement

You can click on Window > Lock Windows - this will unlock the windows, allowing you to freely move and resize (even overlap) any of the displays within SignalVu-PC. This gives you the most flexibility. When there is an odd number of display windows (such as 3), one of the displays gets the "preferen...
