How to drive the 2400 from N.I. CVI?

Post by GaryGary » January 13th, 2011, 4:08 pm

I am a beginner with National Instruments CVI.
The OS on the NI PXI-1075 is Windows Vista Business.

I want to drive the 2400 from CVI via RS232.

So far, I've downloaded
24xx Family VXIPnP/VISA-based Driver for Visual Basic (VB), C/C++, LabVIEW5.1 or higher & LabWindowsCVI(v5.5)(17Mb)
2400 IVI Driver for Visual Basic (VB), VC/C++, Labview (LV) and LabWindows CVI, Rev. B01 (7.2Mb) - Requires Installation of Keithley I/O Layer (KIOL-850)
Keithley I/O Layer version C04 (Windows 7, Vista, XP and Win2K Compatible)

I have been unable to find any .fp function panel files in the above.
I can't find KE2400.h or any other C code that CVI will need to drive the 2400.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get started?

You can now download CVI drivers from the Tek.com website, see link below.

To check for various drivers or examples, I suggest going to www.tek.com and clicking "Downloads" which is on the RIGHT CENTER edge of the page.
Then search for Software and enter the instrument model #, in this case 2400. The search results will list more categories, and in this case I selected "Drivers".

The link below is a download for numerous driver types, including LabWindows CVI.

Thank you! But it isn't enough. When I download an instrument's driver for CVI I got three files at least. The following files are e.g.: HP34401A.C and HP34401A.FP and HP34401A.H . I used your link but when I downloaded and installed after I didn't find KE2400.C file and If I can't connecting this file for my project then will appear some error. Where I find this file ? (KE2400.C) Can you send me ?

The KE2400 library functions in this driver are installed as an IVI driver; there is no KE2400.c file.
Perhaps you are expecting a direct CVI driver model.

We do provide a number of CVI examples which call the KE2400 IVI driver.

On my system, the IVI driver is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\IVI Foundation\IVI\Drivers\KE2400. There are two files located there: ke2400.fp and ke2400.sub. The include file KE2400.h is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\IVI Foundation\IVI\Include

The KE2400 driver uses the Keithley I/O layer (VISA). The LabWindows/CVI application environment will use any of our numerous examples located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Keithley Instruments\KE2400\Examples\CVI. Each of the example folders located there have *.c, *.h, and *.prj files for a LabWindows/CVI project. These are examples which you can use either as-is or to customize your own LabWindows/CVI project.
