2636A measurement during compliance

Post by abattleofwords » February 23rd, 2013, 1:33 am

Hi, I'm using a Keithley 2636A. I source voltage and measure current, with a compliance on the current. Recently, the instruments reports compliance (via GPIB and the source value flashes) even when the measured current is well below the compliance value. Does this mean that the actual is above the compliance value and the measured current is inaccurate? Or that the actual current is the measured value but the compliance has a problem?

I think that the issue is more of a set-up issue than the measurement itself. Since you have a 2636A, you can actually use the TSP Express to do your specific measurement and settings. Another aspect of the TSP Express is that it can generate the code for you as well. Use this as your debugging tool to make sure that you achieved your measurement needs. Also make sure that you are actually connected properly (HI = RED on the triax alligator, LO = RED on the triax alligator).
