Getting Info from GPIB Keithley 2015-P

Post by gjw1ikon » September 13th, 2012, 9:39 am

Looking for a spark of inspiration, My Problem
I have a Keithley 2015-p Connected to an Agilent 3070 ICT Tester via GPIB,

I can Communicate with 2015-P but my problem is how do I take a measurement
and transfer it into PC over GPIB bus, using BT Basic.

This may seem silly but I am new to GPIB.

I have a simple Battery connected to The Keithley reading 6V how do I get
this info (6V) into BTBasic across GPIB Bus.

Any help would be amazing...

The Keithley Model 2015-P is an IEEE-488.2 machine.
This means it responds to SCPI commands (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments).
And since it responds to SCPI commands , in order to get data from the unit you must send a query?
Send the following query command via GPIB WRITE.
:READ?
then address the instrument to talk with a GPIB READ.
Then the data will come back.
There are many types of queries
:FETCH?
:READ?
MEASURE?

and so on.
READ? Is probably the most popular.

Most GPIB controllers are shipped with some basic control program to send commands and read data.
The Keithley KUSB-488B is a USB to GPIB adapter.
This connects to the USB port on your PC and the other end is a GPIB connection.
The KUSB-488B is shipped with the control program "KI-488 diagnostic tool".
With this you can send commands and read data.
I would expect the GPIB card you have has something similar.
