Problems in controlling SCS-4200 via GPIB and Labview

Post by jinhongkim » September 11th, 2015, 4:49 am

Hello, I'm trying to remote control our SCS-4200 with my laptop computer via LabView 2014 program. To connect 4200 with laptop, I used "NI GPIB-USB-HS" connector. After running the KXCI, I checked the communication via NI MAX. But I could not find SCS-4200. Can Any one help me to connect 4200 with laptop ?

In KCON, make sure that the KXCI settings are configured for GPIB rather then Ethernet based communication.

In NI-MAX, use the Tools menu and open a VISA Interactive Control session.
Does the GPIB address of the 4200 show up then?
If yes, then you can double click the entry and get a Basic I/O session.

Thank you for your advice.
However, still I could not find GPIB address in "VISA interactive control" panel.
I attached some screen-shots.

For the VISA settings, make sure that Passport for GPIB is enabled.

As troubleshooting step, do you have any other product with GPIB interface? This would be to test if detection of devices is problematic for all devices or not.

Dear Andrea

As you can see the attached -, I connected SCS-4200 and Keithely 2400. "NI-MAX" recognized keithely 2400. So, I think there are no problems in Laptop and GPIB-USB connector.

You might want to try setting the Reading Delimiter to String Terminator. I believe the 4200 is expecting a comma terminator. This setting is likely a legacy setting.
