4200-SCS compitable with 7173 switch card?

Post by Hefei Liu » April 13th, 2018, 10:30 am

I am trying to add 707A switching matrix with two switch card, one 7173 and one 7072, into the configuration of 4200SCS.

The 7072 card has been successfully added and works, but the 7173 can not be added. See the attachments.

Is 7173 compitable with 4200SCS? Any method to add it into the configuration, like updating the version of KITE or using programs other than KITE?

Thanks.

The 7173-50 switch card is not supported by KTEI (4200-SCS) or Clarius (4200A-SCS) software's built-in 707x switch frame control.

We have had customers control the 7173-50 card using a custom UTM, see example source code in the attached ZIP file. NOTE THIS DOES NOT work along with the built-in 707x switch frame control software - it is separate - you must use one or the other. To use the attached source code, you will need the 4200-COMPILER on your system in order to build a user library with the attached source code. See the section "Copying user libraries using kultcopy" in chapter 8 of your 4200-SCS Reference Manual for instructions on how to install the attached code.

The 707x switch frames are supposed to have all switch cards be the same model. This is to maintain switch card specifications. When you mix switch cards, backplane switch paths (rows) from multiple switch cards connect with each other. For example, a 7072 switch card low-current row can be degraded by the 7173-50 card, and it will not perform to specifications. There is no warning on the switch frame when you do this, but you should be aware of the impact. Our software does not support mixing switch card types in a 707x frame.
