The one and only advantage of the PIV-Q Vs PMU is its higher power -

Advantages of PIV-Q -
PIV-Q ~ 30W (38V / 800mA) compared to PMU’s ~ 8W (20V / 400mA)

Advantages of PMU -
1. ITM support
2. Simpler cabling
3. Better low current measurement / resolution (nA)
4. IV / CV / PIV switching
5. Broader range of PW (60nS to DC)
6. Faster transition times
7. Better cable comp / load line comp routine
8. Dual Channel - Single slot card (4 slots for PIV-Q)
9. Broader application space - http://www.keithley.com/support/data?asset=52846
