2520 measurement errors of laser diode back monitor current

we are using 2520 to characterize L-I-V and back monitor photodiode of a packaged low power telecoms laser diode. monitor photodiode current is in the range of 30-1000 uA. 2520's photodiode current measure accuracy is 0.3%rdg + 20 uA. does this mean best case accuracy is +/- 20 uA? how can we accurately measure 30-1000 uA? do we have to add an amplifier, or something else? do we also have to worry about the internal input offset current?

That is correct about the accuracy.
The main reason for the Model 2520 is the duration of the pulse.
It can output a pulse with a minimal duration of 500nsec.
If you just want to measure the current and it is DC, then I would suggest the Model 6485 -.
On the 1mA range the accuracy is 0.1 + 100nA.

thanks for the reply. we already have the system set up and operational. we can measure with DC sweep, but need better accuracy for the low current measurements. is there anyway to add or modify the set up to accomplish this?

Sorry. that is the accuracy.
Only way to make it better is have a better accuracy unit verify it and transfer that accuracy for the day.
