Command for reading 2182a buffer?

Post by mohammad.rasti » May 18th, 2015, 6:50 am

Hi,
I decide to create simple vi program by labview2014 to read 2182a buffer? What commands are needed for enter in the visa write block in the labview? My cuurent source is 6221 and is connected to 2182a with rs232 and trigger-link cables and connected to PC by KUSB-488b.

The commands to get data from the TRACE Buffer in the Model 2182A are the
:TRACE Command.
These set up the buffer
:TRACE:FEED:CONT NEXT
:TRACE:POINTS 100
:TRACE:FEED SENSE1

This retrieves data from the buffer.
:TRACE:DATA?

Are you using delta mode?
If so, then data will come from the 6221, not the 2182A.
Try the attached VI if you are using delta.

No,I don't use delta, I want to perform dc measurement: current is constant but voltage is changing as DUT become colder. I want to only record voltage from 2182a.

I was not able to open the VI you posted, as I have Labview 2012. Can you resave as 2012 and repost?

Hi Dale,
with this attached vi for reading 2182a buffer, there are some data and it is seem the program is working but one error is shown: error id code:-410 "query interrupted"
which means that an attempt was made to read data from an empty output queue. but I'm not able to resolve this problem. this vi simultaneously is both work and make show error by 6221 with successive alarm sound. the number of reading is 16.

Are you using GPIB or RS-232?
The previous VI I sent to you was for GPIB.
If you are using RS-232 then the terminator needs to be concatenated onto each command string.
What terminator are you using if it is RS-232? Is it CR or LF?
it sounds like the 6221 is responding, not the 2182A.

6221 current source connected to pc via gpib and connected to 2182 via rs232 and trigger link cables. on the front panel of 2182a gpib is off and rs232 is on and the terminator is CR. on the front panel of 6221>comm setup>gpib is selected. Are these settings correct?

Ok, that makes sense.
This configuration is for Delta mode.
Disconnect the RS-232 cable from between the 6221 and 2182A.
Connect the GPIB cable to the 2182A.
Make sure the 2182A is set to GPIB mode.
Then the VI will work.
