The Model 428-PROG does not have a battery option. I believe you are looking to get improved noise level performance since a battery power source does not introduce noise associated with AC power supplies. I recall that there is a programmable current amplifier with a battery option offered through Stanford Research. It is the Model SR570. You might want to consider this model if the noise level performance of your 428-PROG is not sufficient for your test needs.
I have a different problem. I would like to use the source for testing on people and, because of safety, I would prefer the battery device.
The current will flow directly into the body. What I need is a configuration in which I want to be sure that, no matter what, there is no harm.
