6487 Noisy Voltage Source

Post by dmo_qb » October 8th, 2014, 11:05 pm

Hi there,

I'm trying to use the 6487 as a voltage source for a quick experiment, but noticed that its output is fairly noisy. I only need +100mV, but I seem to be getting a 40mV p-p pulse of noise at 25MHz when I plug the Voltage Source directly to the oscilloscope. It sits around 2mV RMS however.

I know I must be doing something not quite right, but has anyone seen this before?

Cheers,
Dmo

The 6487 does not have a noise specification at 25MHz, however we do provide a wideband noise specification from 0.1Hz o 20MHz which has a level of 30mV p-p, so by going even high I am not surprised that you are seeing 25MHz p-p.
