6221 harmonics

Post by ALucente » April 10th, 2015, 8:37 am

I'm using a model 6221 as an AC current source in a test setup that monitors the system's third harmonic response to a sine wave through a lock-in amplifier. The current source does not seem to supply a clean enough signal for this application. If I apply a current of 10 mA (RMS) to a 25 ohm resistor, there appears to be about 1.7uA of current being supplied at the third harmonic. Is that within specification limits or does the instrument need recalibration?

It appears that there is not a spec for THD nor particular harmonic content.
