I am using Delta measurement mode with the 6221 and 2182A/E and wanted to use CH2 to log the magnetic field at each data point (just another voltage between -1V and 1V).
Is it possible to do this remotely with this set up? I.E. CH1 doing delta measurements and CH2 logging the field?
with remote control this should be doable but I strongly believe you would have to reprogram the unit each time you
want to change from a delta reading on channel 1 to a reading on channel 2.
This said I would prefer a separate voltmeter if time matters for you; in this case tapping the 6221 output trigger
for triggering the voltmeter to get synchronous readings is favorable (the 'delta triggering sequence' in the manual
- the timing on Fig. 5-8 of the reference manual).
I did think this would have to be the way forward, I need as fast measurements as possible so this triggering will be necessary. I wanted to avoid this as it will be an over complication but it looks like I will have to do it!
I am also having a further problem.
When I read from the device it appears to be adding random readings, i.e. a space, or the last delta reading or DLC. I cannot seem to work out where they are coming from.
Is there a way to completely remove the messages waiting to be read from the 6221?
I need to split this so it also goes to a keithley 2100, which takes a BNC trigger. Is there some kind of splitter which can do this for me?
What Pin is the output trigger? Pin 2?
on the 2182A nanovoltmeter
Tlink line 1 is VMC (voltmeter complete = output trigger from the 2182A)
Tlink line 2 is EXT (external trigger input line for the 2182A)
