External triggering of pulse output

Post by abcdef » May 7th, 2015, 1:52 am

Hello,

Is it possible to generate the "pulse" function with external trigger, or external triggering is possible only with "sweeps" function?

If it isn't possible, how can I generate a trapezoid wave that will be triggered externally?

Using simple remote programming is not an option, because I need to trigger 2 devices at once with maximum time difference of ~10us, which is the situation with hardware external triggering, while when using remote programming (e.g. with matlab) the time difference is ~100us.

Are you using only the current source (6220 or 6221)?
Or do you also have the 2182A nanovolt meter?

If you have only the current source and you want it to generate a pulse of current when an external digital trigger occurs, you could make use of the custom list sweep to compose the pulse shape.

Below are the SCPI commands for a simple three point list to generate a 20mA amplitude pulse for 100msec with 3 volt compliance value.
The instrument will wait for the digital trigger (at line 1 on trigger link) to arm. When received, it will move into trigger layer and carry out the list sweep. See figure 8-2 in 622x Reference Manual.

Code: Select all

*RST
*CLS

:ARM:SOUR TLINK
:ARM:DIR ACC
