I am communicating with a 6221 from my PC via Ethernet and I have a 2182 Nanovoltmeter connected via RS-232 and trigger link cable.
Using vb.net and NI VISA, I have written a driver that sends SCPI commands to the 6221.
I have the termination char set to LF in my code.
When I send a measurement command to the 2182, I am able to send the query command and then read back the correct measurement. However, there is an additional LF remaining in the buffer of the instrument.
Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

So that would account for one of the LFs.
Is your VB.net code adding an LF? Maybe it is doing so to be sure there is an LF to terminate the transmission?
What is the firmware revision of the 2182A?
