4-wire resistance measurements with 7158 and 2636

Post by dfernandez » August 7th, 2014, 4:33 am

Hi,

It is possible to use a number of 7158 switches and a 2636 SMU to perform 4-wire resistance measurements? How many 7158 do I need? What Keithley cable models are best?

Best regards,
Daniel

Hello,
for 4-wire measurements you could consider a more economic solution using e.g. 7011 cards.

7158 cards typcially cover low current applications where 2-wire connections are sufficient. In this case
you might ground the LO of the SMU channel you want to use and use a triax to BNC adapter (7078-TRX-GND)
on the HI triax connector.

If you already have a surplus of 7158 cards you might use more 7078-TRX-GND adaptors on the approrpiate
triax SMU connectors and go to individual 7158 cards. You may want to ground LO.
