TBS2000 Multipurpose Knob

Post by sugarfree » February 28th, 2017, 11:43 am

The Multipurpose Knob in my TBS2072 is extremely oversensitive. Very difficult to dial a specific value. It often jumps over to another value when pressing it to confirm the selection.
Also, it feels inconsistent and counterintuitive that the Multipurpose Knob cannot select the main menu items. One would expect to navigate the entire menu without taking fingers off of the Multipurpose Knob.

I hope it can be addressed in a firmware update.

Usability improvements to the multipurpose knob was added in firmware V1.23. If you do not have V1.23, you can download software/firmware from Tek.com by going to the "Downloads" icon on the right side of the web page. Select the download type as "software", enter in your instrument model number and then press "search". At the search results page, use the filter to filter for the software type you are looking for.

I'm on v1.23.
Do you mean that the oversensitivity of the multipurpose knob was supposed to be addressed in 1.23?

Since you have the current firmware level, your symptoms could be related to a issue with the encoder but hard to judge just by a description. I would suggest submitting a support ticket and include a video of the symptoms you are seeing. You can submit this at: http://www.tek.com/support.

Using the latest firmware 1.26.0 it's still almost impossible to enter a value with the multipurpose knob that requires pushing the knob the conform. Pushing the knob invariably turns it slightly which is enough to change the value.
