TDS 3052C Measurement Indicators Fail to Turn On

Post by jaime_g » March 7th, 2017, 4:01 pm

Dear Forum,

I have been trying unsuccessfully to programmatically turn on the measurement indicators for a delay measurement.
Here is the commands send to the set up the scope:

Code: Select all

HEAD OFF;
DIS:GRA GRID;
DIS:INTENSIT:WAVE 80;
HOR:RECORDL 10000;
ACQ:MODE SAM;
ACQ:STOPA SEQ;
MEASU:GAT SCRE;
SEL:CH1 ON;
CH1:COUP DC;
CH1:POS 2.5;
CH1:OFFS 0.0;
CH1:PRO 1;
CH1:SCA 1;
CH1:IMP MEG;
CH1:BAN FUL;
SEL:CH2 ON;
CH2:COUP DC;
CH2:POS -3.0;
CH2:OFFS 0.0;
CH2:PRO 1;
CH2:SCA 10;
CH2:IMP MEG;
CH2:BAN FUL;
HOR:SCA 400E-6;
HOR:DEL:TIM 800E-6;
TRIG:A:LEVEL 0.5;
TRIG:A:MODE NORM;
TRIG:A:TYPE EDGE;
TRIG:A:EDGE:SOURCE CH1;
TRIG:A:EDGE:SLOPE FALL;
TRIG:A:EDGE:COUP DC;
ACQ:STATE ON
After the signal is acquired the following commands are send to measure the delay:

Code: Select all

HOR:SCA 400E-6;
HOR:DEL:TIM 800E-6;
MEASU:MEAS1:SOURCE1 CH1;
MEASU:MEAS1:SOURCE2 CH2;
MEASU:MEAS1:TYPE DELAY;
MEASU:MEAS1:DEL:DIRE FORW;
MEASU:MEAS1:DEL:EDGE1 FALL;
MEASU:MEAS1:DEL:EDGE2 FALL;
MEASU:REFL:METH PERC;
MEASU:REFL:PERC:MID 50;
MEASU:REFL:PERC:MID2 10;
MEASU:INDIC:STATE MEAS1;
MEASU:MEAS1:STATE ON
This is the scope trace

Any help on how to programmatically turn on the measurement indicators would be appreciate it.

Hi Jamie,

The page in the programmer's manual for the MEASUrement:INDICators:STATE command states
There must be an active measurement before you can activate an indicator for a specified measurement.
In your command sequence you are trying to turn on the indicators before the command to turn on the measurement.

Code: Select all

MEASU:INDIC:STATE MEAS1;
MEASU:MEAS1:STATE ON
Reverse the order of those two commands and you should be good! :)

Code: Select all

MEASU:MEAS1:STATE ON
MEASU:INDIC:STATE MEAS1;

Dave,

Thank you for your prompt response.
Reversing the order of the commands worked.
It is interesting to note that the original order of these commands works on the MDO3012 and MDO3014 but not on the TD3052C.

Regards,

Jaime

Hi Jamie,

You're welcome!

Yeah, I can't say why the TDS3000 requires the measurement be on first. It was developed a long time ago! You're likely not the first person to experience the issue though which I'm sure is why they made the order not matter on the newer scopes.
