Win10 does not recognize MDO3014

Post by jaime_g » November 30th, 2017, 8:46 am

I am using a DELL Precision 3620 with Windows10 version 1709, OS Build 16299.64.
Bought a brand new MDO3014 with firmware v1.26 but, I cannot use it because Windows 10 does not recognize the instrument USB.

I suspect that you do not have the USBTMC drivers installed. You will need to install NI Visa or Tektronix Visa to get the USBTMC drivers installed. Then Windows will be able to recognize the scope.

David,

The NI VISA 2017 drivers are installed. I have an NI GPIB to USB interface connected to a USB 2.0 hub. I am able to see all the GPIB addresses for other instruments.

The MDO3014 USB port is connected directly to the PC. However, the PC cannot find the instrument.
When I check Device Manager on the PC, the MDO3014 properties show that “The drivers for this device are not installed.” “There are not compatible drivers for this device.”
I have tried to update the driver by selecting “Browse my computer for driver software”, then “Let mi - from a list of available drivers on my computer”. There are too many.
Which USB driver do I select?

Two things to check. 1. Is the scope I/O USB Device Port set to “-” or “Connect to Computer”? Needs to be set to “Computer”. 2. Unplug the USB cable from the scope to the computer and then re-connect the USB cable.

David,
Both recommendations were already implemented. Yes, the USB device Port is set to "Connect to Computer". I dis-connected the USB cable on the oscilloscope side and reconnected it again. No change.

Looks like you have done everything that is needed for USB communications. Is there another computer you can try this on? What about trying another USB cable?

If still no success I would recommend submitting a support request so we can further assist in sorting out the issues. You can submit a support request at: https://www.tek.com/support
