AFG 3000 Series

Post by nmedelec » June 10th, 2014, 1:14 pm

Hello,
Pardon me if this a very basic question, but I am very new to this field. I just started looking at a procedure which is giving some issues with the C series however it runs fine for B series.
So before I start looking at the procedure I wanted to know about the difference between the AFG 3000 B series and AFG C series.
I looked at the specifications and looks like the procedure has the correct specifications for all the models.
I hope someone can help me!
Thank you in advance!

the AFG3000C series where designed to be equivalent to the AFG3000B series.

could you elaborate on the difficulty that you are having with the C series?

I had a look at the procedure. It runs perfectly fine on a regular generator or a B series generator.
But we have tried with 3 different C series assets and it does not work.
It times out whenever we try running the test the first time.
We have to repeat the test again and the second time it will not give any time out error and just runs the test fine.
I am not sure why it is happening. If it was the commands then it should just not do it the second time too.

The exact error it gives on the software that we are using for the tests is as follows:
IEEE-488: (NI EABO) Timeout. I/O operation aborted.
It is definitely got to do with the way it is communicating with the C series.
Hence I just wanted to know what is the difference between the B series and the C series
Thank you :-)

It was never consistent! It would sometimes time out while a Reset command or self test or even the very first step where we had to get the Identification(IDN).
So we solved the issue using USB instead of the GPIB. It works fine if we use the USB.
