AFG3000 serie phase sign difference repetability

Post by alain91 » March 20th, 2015, 8:09 am

Hello,

my setup:

Sinus wave cw mode on each channel Ch1 and Ch2, invert off on ch1 and ch2, phase ch1=phase ch2=0°, freq ch1=freq ch2 on.
Power on Ch1=6dBm; power on Ch2=-12.5 dBm.

With sign will have the phase difference between CH1 and Ch2?

if I power OFF, power On the generator. The phase difference sign will it have the same sign ?

Best Regards

The AFG3000 series uses phase continuous method to change frequency. When you change a frequency of a channel, it will affect the phase relationship between the two channels. When using both channels and want to make sure that they are aligned in phase you should always use the "Align Phase" button.

When you power off/on the generator, the phase you set should remain. However, to ensure they are aligned, you should always use the "align phase" control.

Phase and Align Phase are further described in the AFG3000 Quick Start Users Guide (search Tek.com for 077095700) beginning on page 65.
