AFG3022b Cannot Recognize the ASIC

Post by kapabapa » August 31st, 2015, 1:02 am

Hello!

When I start my generator AFG3022b I have message "CANNOT RECOGNIZE THE ASIC !!! <<<< PUSH ANY BUTTON TO CONTINUE >>>>"
After pushing any button, the message is" Signal output is turned off due to high temperature inside instrument.Check fan and ventilation. Power off the instrument and wait until it cooled down before powering it back on."
What is this ASIC- GoC ASIC or other IC?

The AFG3022B is detecting an internal error regarding an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) that is apparently overheating for some reason. The instrument should be sent in for repair.

Thank you.
Do you know, where can I find power module voltages and its tolerances?
Service manual, page 3-3 " ...The power supply module provides +4.3 V, ±15 V, and +5 V"
I have DC voltages +4.34V, ±18.5 V, and +7.37 V.

Looks like your power supply is not functioning correctly. The voltages you are measuring for ±15 V, and +5 V" are way too high and causing some of the components (ASIC) to overheat. You will need to order a replacement power supply. The current part number is 119727104 and can be ordered from Tektronix.

To place an order, please call 1-800-833-9200, option 1 for Sales.

Today I noticed that on the first screen generator writes:

AFG3011
Version 3.2.0 Build Nov 5 2009

Copyright Tektronix
...........................
but model is AFG3022b. Why is this?
Is it possible to "change" firmware without any reason?
Is there any hidden way to revert to the previous status?
Maybe for this generator cannot recognize ASIC.

It should be showing AFG3022B. I do not know the history of your instrument, but it looks like it may have an incorrect main board installed. What is the history of this instrument and can you provide me the serial number?

In either case, it will need to be sent in for repair.

Today I update firmware successfully ( everything looks OK) with firmware for AFG3022b.
After restart, generator showing again AFG3011 on first screen and problem still present.
Are you sure that on startup screen should be AFG3022?
By the way, when I choose to update firmware, counter was 4.

If the instrument still has the original error message and the power supplies you measured are still way off, then there is a problem internally with the instrument. The main board holds the product information and in some situations a defective main board also caused the power supply voltages to be incorrect. It will need to be sent in to service to determine the exact cause of the error and incorrect power supply voltages.

If you would like to have your unit repaired, you can submit a request for service on Tek.com under the "Service" tab. Select "Request Instrument Repair/Calibration" or call 1-800-835-9200 prompt 2.
