Using TIVM 02L probe in 3T magnetic fields

Post by [email protected] » September 19th, 2016, 1:40 am

I wonder whether TIVM probe can be used in 3T magnetic field. We want to measure the output voltage of medical device scanning in 3T MR. There is permanent 3T magnetic and 128MHz altering magnetic field in MR.

The TIVM Isolated voltage probes have not been tested in this type of environment so not sure what, if anything would happen. One area of concern would be the eddy currents/losses in the internal metal parts of the sensor head and tip cable that would cause some metal parts to heat up (especially at the higher freqs).

Thank you for your reply!
According to our experience, heating caused by high frequency can be controlled and will affect little.
We also want to know whether there are ferromagnetism units in the sensor head and tip cables that may affect the property of sensor circut. For example, if there is inductance, that will be saturated in high magnetic field .
Hoping for your reply.

The Sensor Head and Tip Cable assemblies contain ferrite materials. The Sensor Head has inductors in its internal power supply that could saturate depending on the field strength at the Sensor head.

Thanks for your patience!
In some conditions, inductance saturation won't affect the device for the saturation increase the ability of power supply. We don't have the circuit schematic of TIVM so we can't evalute the influence. So I wonder whether the circuit engineer of TIVM can analysis the influence of saturation of inductance to make sure whether it will work well, and how much influence on accuracy?
For the TIVM probe may be the only measurements for our condition. It's very important to us.
Hoping for your reply. Thank you very much.
