TDS3000 TDS3034B Excessive offset before warmup?

Post by msdaniel924 » July 5th, 2018, 2:30 am

I recently acquired a second-hand TDS3034B which shows quite large errors during warmup. The screenshot shows the offset recovery during warmup at 10 secs per division. Channel 2 is almost a volt out at switch on, although this is at the worst case vertical setting of 1V per division, higher sensitivities have much less offset.

After a warmup of 5 mins or so, the offset is negligable and Signal Path Compensation passes. Amplitude measurements are good over a wide frequency range.

Can someone put my mind at rest and tell me this is normal !?

For performance verification the service manual states: "The oscilloscope must have been operating continuously for ten minutes in an environment that the meets the operating range specifications for temperature and humidity."
