Question on TEK 496P Spectrum Analyzer

Post by wmdino » April 19th, 2011, 7:20 am

All,

I recently purchased a used TEK 496P SA in excellent physical condition. I am still learning how to use the unit but I did notice something I thought odd. As I increase the sensitivity I start to notice the baseline trace shift upward. The movement of the trace starts around -70 dB and by the time I reach -120 dB the trace is off the top of the screen.

(The marker traces appear correctly when I feed the marker-out back into the input so I am relatively sure that the front-end is working correctly.)

Is there an adjustment for this upward drift or am I doing something wrong? ( Or is the machine not operating correctly )
