Tek Toolbars for 64-bit?

Post by stevenkanPRL » August 10th, 2021, 12:51 pm

Hi! Just a follow-up on this discussion, which was never followed-up on after 2017:
The issue is that the Excel tool bar requires a 32 bit Tek Visa and the current Tek Visa on Tek.com is only for 64 bit OS. At this time we do not have a working solution for the Excel tool bar.
I'm looking for a support for the Word toolbar, but I suspect it's the exact same issue.

Any news from Tek on when they're going to update this? TekVISA was updated to 64-bit years ago, so it's just the toolbars that are incompatible. If Tek doesn't want to do this, can they release the source code for the toolbars so someone else can update them?

This is (was) seriously one of the best features of TekVISA, and one of the reasons we've always resisted buying any other brand of scope.

Right now we've got one last, ancient 32-bit machine remaining in my company, solely for its ability to take quick captures from the scope for documentation. It's getting harder and harder to maintain a 32-bit machine.

Tek Support  responded to my email with:
Hello Steven,

From my understanding there was some progress made years ago and it got to a beta state but that's where it ended. This Tek Toolbar beta was tested on Win7 running office 2013 and Win10 running office 2016, both 64-bit environments: https://danahertm.app.box.com/s/tpayhvq ... xj6y0i5o5r

It requires TekVISA version 4.1.1 in particular: https://www.tek.com/oscilloscope/tds705 ... tware-v411

And TekVISA should be installed prior to the toolbar
I haven't tried this yet, but I will.

Hi all,

After many years of struggling with this, I have finally figured out the solution to getting the TekVisa Toolbars for Office running on modern systems.

Short version:
  1. Install the 32-bit versions of Microsoft Office, TekVISA, and the TekVISA Toolbars
  2. Manually copy the toolbar template files to %OFFICEROOT%\startup and \xlstart
  3. Add those directories as Trusted Locations to the Office Trust Center
Long version, with step-by-step directions and links:

Please let us know if this helps!
