keithley 6485 LabVIEW serial connection

Post by Fredo_L » September 22nd, 2020, 8:40 am

Hello,

I use the Keithley 6485 driver on LabVIEW.
The communication between Labview and the Keithley is made with a serial connection.

By default, the communication speed of the Keythley 6485 is 9600 b/s, but I saw that it accepts a faster communication of 19200 b/s.
My question is how configure in LabVIEW to change the communication speed ?

Thank you for your help.

Not sure I fully understand.
On the instrument, with button pushes, you will need to set the desired baud rate. Config the COMMs.

Then the COM port of PC needs to also use these settings. The VISA session in LV has property node for baud rate and other attributes.

Yes, I know configure the device.

The problem is to configure Labview. With a VISA session, I know choice the speed but the driver Keithley 6485 is not a VISA ressource (I have a "instrument handle").

If you double click the Initialize VI provided by the driver, you'll see it has provision to detect when the interface type is serial (ASRLx) vs. GPIB and to apply settings to the COM port for the serial case.

When I double click the Initialize VI provided by the driver, I see that.

Where did you get your driver? It shows as a code interface to a DLL. Is this from the IVI driver on Tek/Keithley web?

For LabVIEW, prefer to use driver authored by NI:
http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_d ... 144FF9A492

That’s what I had downloaded for my earlier response/screen shot.

Thank you, it's good with the driver authored by NI.

I think my last driver has been installed with "Keithley I/O Layer" (https://fr.tek.com/software/kiol/850c10), or with "6485-852C02.exe/6485-852C02.exe" (IVI Instrument driver for KE6485).
