2380 Software

Post by alanhawse » February 2nd, 2020, 8:46 am

Do you have a recommendation for software to run the PC/Mac attached to the USB port. Is labview the only real choice?

Thanks,

LabVIEW is not your only choice.

For Mac, I'm not well versed.
For PC and USB based communication, most will use VISA to manage the communication bus.
VISA has Open, Write, Read and Close among other things.
The SCPI commands understood by the 2380 are documented in the Reference Manual.

VISA can be used from most any programming language: Python, C#, VB or even LabVIEW.
The 2380 will be completely unaware of OS or programming language that is sending the SCPI commands to it.

We will install the NI-VISA runtime if the target PC does not have it already when you install our IVI driver or the Keithley IO Layer utility software

Here is an article I wrote about using PyVISA which is an open source project.

It works great.
