The front panel of my device (and the info screen) says "2380-500-15" (no sign of a "j") , however it also will let me type in values up to 15.
This leads me to my real problem. I am testing a power supply that give [email protected] ... when I get to 5.5A the 2380 load will not go any higher.
For the life of me I can't figure out why... which lead me to look in the users manual where I found that 0-3A limit in CC mode. I know that my load goes higher... but not all the way to 15A.
So... I tried switching to CP mode. When I get to 6.5W it will not go higher... (actually it appears to stick at 6.55w) ... which is basically the same number as the CC mode.
I suppose that it is possible that there is something wrong with my DUT power supply... but I don't think so.
Im stuck and Im not sure what to do next.

Even so, the Load has a minimum operating voltage for the CC mode.....the 15Amp range is 4.5V.
The CP and even CR modes of the load are derived from the I and V. If in CP mode, the controlled current and the measured voltage are the power. The load will try to adjust the current to achieve the desired power level. But the min and max operating points still apply.
Do you really have the 500V model for your 1.2V DUT?
Even the 120V model has min operating voltage of 1.8V @ 60Amps.
I appear to be able to type in whatever number I want that is <=15 on this screen... so it isn't like there is ranges.

This is bound to be the problem... though I will say that it seems to work just fine at 1.2v upto about 5.5A ...

2380-500-15 ... Why did I buy that one? I don't know.. obviously from this whole chain you can tell I don't know what Im doing
> Even the 120V model has min operating voltage of 1.8V @ 60Amps....
I didn't know the minimum operating voltage... though given that I literally took a screenshot of that page of the documentation I should have known that.... but as stated before I obviously don't know what Im doing.
Looks like some high power resistors as loads are in my future....
Once again thanks for your answers
