Hi;
My company has purchased new testing laptops. These laptops do not have serial ports so to connect them to the Keithley 2700 Multimeter we are using a USB-Serial connector. The appropriate drivers for this connector have been installed, however when I run XLINK it does not find the Multimeter.
When I click "Initialize" i get the follow error messages:
"XLINX has detected that the instrument attached is not a MOdel 2700. XLINX ionly works with Model 2700s from Keithley Instruments"
after pressing okay I also get
"Error 1033: You cannot use any embedded object of the KI2700 control when the instrument has not previously been initialized with the Initialize method."
How can I go about getting the 2700 to be recognized and work with XLINX?
Cheers;
Reed

Re: 2700 Multimeter to XLINX Instrument not detected
Xlinx software is 15 years old and unsupported.
I would recommend using the Excelinx software.
But even Excelinx is only supported to Excel 2010. if your new laptops have Excel 2013 then that would not work.
I would recommend to use Kickstart software. It is the new software to control the 2700 series.
But it does not support RS-232(serial).
I would recommend to purchase the KUB-488B , USB to GPIB adapter.
Model 2700 and Kickstart work well with the KUS-488B.
Kickstart is similar to Xinx and you would not have much trouble adapting.

Re: 2700 Multimeter to XLINX Instrument not detected
Thanks Dale;
My company has recently purchased some National Instruments USB to GPIB adapters.
Will these suffice?
Thank you;

Yes. An NI US to GPIB adapter would work with Kickstart software.
