Hi.
I have the 2701 sn-0915046 firmware rev: A09 A02.

Before we worry about firmware, let's verify your setup.

Verify Ethernet Connectivity
First, connect your 2701 to the network using a cross-over cable.
Verify you can ping your instrument from your pc.
Verify you can view the instrument's webpage from your pc browser (just enter the IP address of your instrument in the browser url entry area).

If all this works, then try to verify NI-VISA connectivity
Open NI-VISA Interactive Control (if you have it...) and enter at the bottom of the page the VISA Resource to Open. The resource should be of the following type: TCPIP::www.xxx.yyy.zzz.::1394::SOCKET

If this works (or if you don't have NI-VISA Interactive control and wish to move on), then verify KickStart connectivity
Open KickStart and click on the Instruments tab.
Enter the IP address of your instrument and select 1394 for the Port and Press the Add (+) button.
Then check/mark on the Discover Ethernet Instruments checkbox.
Then press the Refresh Instrument Discovery button and watch your instrument to see if it goes into REM mode. If all goes well the 2701 should be listed on the KickStart Instrument Configuration tab.

user tip:
for best results set your 2701 to use use a fixed IP address (Ethernet set to ON and DHCP set to OFF).

Tanks, the 2701 works with KickStart.
Now what about the latest firmware for this instrument?

Glad to hear that your 2701 is working KickStart.
Version A09 firmware is the latest A series release of firmware.

(note: the D05 version firmware that is posted - does not apply to your unit, it is meant to be used by models which have newer hardware).
