keithly 2700 wrong voltage measurment

Post by daniel.berman » December 18th, 2018, 8:40 am

hello,
im measuring a noisy 12V capacitor using Keithly 2700 with keithly 7700 module:
when im measuring the cap voltage im getting wrong number (141V) while DMM measuring accurate ~12V. :o :o :o
i tryied diffrent channels, diffrent rates and still getting wrong measurment.
im logging using C# script if its matter.

anyone faced such issue?
is there any Keithly data logger software to dissaprove software issue?

thank in advance.

If you use front terminals of 2700 as DMM, you get correct 12v reading.
But rear terminals and through 7700 switch is wrong data value?

Check front/rear switch position.

Manual operation can check it too/verify connection through switch to DMM.

KickStart is our software. Can be used in trial license mode. Must have GPIB. RS-232 not supported by KickStart.

hi,
thank you for the reply.
when im using the front or rear DMM outputs im getting right measurment only when im turn off "FILTER",
when im using the 7700 switch module im getting wrong measurment on the same point ive read true by front/rear output.
is it due to some avaraging in the keithly?
please advise.

thank you.

I would try to eliminate first all known issues.
a) Voltage spikes recorded due active auto-ranging.
b) Use of lower scan timing
c) Double check application bandwidth with measuring system specifications.
e) Health condition of individual scan card channel.
