2304A firmware download

Post by mosbys » September 27th, 2012, 5:52 am

The Firmware Wizard only allows for downloading of a file type "Mot S-Record (4A*.X)" How do I get the Firmware Wizard to download my "*.A04" file?

Hi mosbys,

Try renaming the file and add a .x to the end.

Let me know if that helps.

The Firmware Wizard will only accept a file name of FLASH.X. I've tried renaming my file from 2304A803.A04 to 2304A803.X with no success. I've also renamed the file to FLASH.X and the download did begin. However, the download could not complete because of a "communication error" even though the Firmware Wizard recognized my 2304A. Is it possible the A02/A02 model I have will not accept a .X firmware file?

Still unable to download firmware. File selection has been resolved. I need to browse for file *.* instead of FLASH.X in order for FlashWizard to recognize the firmware file.

What is not resolved yet is a communication error. I'm using a National Instruments 488 GPIB cable. I know that the cable is communicating because FlashWizard recognizes the 2304A address. The error is "Model 2304A not connected".

Any thoughts as to why the firmware file will not upload through the NI-488 GPIB cable to the 2304A???

Upgrading to A06 from A02 is not doable. The ROMs and digital board need to be changed.
This can only be done at the factory.

Dale, thank you. I talked with your technician and he identified the problem. The error I'm getting in the display "-113 UNDEFINED HEADER" is because the 2304a ver.A02 does not have a rewritable firmware chip. The units with ver.A03 and higher do have rewritable chips installed. This is why I was unable to upload the new firmware file with FlashWizard the chip.
