Model 248 Earth Ground

Post by Ben_UNT » April 23rd, 2013, 3:48 pm

I apologize if this is a trivial question but why is there no earth ground connection on the back panel of the model 248 high voltage power supply? I understand that the device under load should have a grounded safety shield during operation but I don't get why the power supply is not grounded too. I am using this power supply for field emission experiments and I don't want to damage it with arcing. What are you recommendations for this issue?
Thanks

Hello,
The 248 has an OVP circuitry to avoid arcing.

This is explained in the datasheet (Model 248 High Voltage Supply and Technical Information - DC Power Supplies)

See link below;

In addition, the E-handbook there's a number of applications for additional information.

I hope this helps.
