Forward Voltage Variation Causes

Post by ckivela » October 28th, 2015, 2:22 pm

When testing the forward voltage of a calibration LED wafer the difference in the expected value was larger than toleranced. Using a new calibration wafer resulted in a smaller difference but still out of tolerance. The probe manufacturer states that they have made no changes to their products that we use on these wafers. Does anyone know of any troubleshooting areas I should consider to try to resolve the forward voltage issue? Thank you in advance.

Which instruments are you using to measure the voltage?
Are you forcing current and measuring voltage?
How much current? Is this pulsed current or steady state (self heating)?
What is the expected voltage value? What are you measuring instead?
Are you using 2-wire or 4-wire connections?
