Unable to understand Vi driver for 195a DMM

Post by laliteshjoshi » September 17th, 2014, 3:14 am

Hi,
I am a beginner to lab view and starting with 195A Digital Multimeter.
I have downloaded 195A vi drivers which is working fine and its displaying all the reading in my computer and also I am able to write commands to DMM.
But some variables are confusing me I am listing them below please tell me what are these? I have also attached screenshot of the vi.

1). B0S0M1G1: why we are using this? Context help showing some L,S,M,G format so how do we decide what string we have to use here.

2)."F%d", "R%d", "P%d", and "Z%dX" what are these terms. Where the F, R, P, Z, d and X came from I know that these are Function, Range, Filter, Display etc. but are these variables if yes then where we have defined them?

I'll be very thankful to you and if there is any post which is defining these all the please let me know.

1. These are format commands.
B0 = Readings come from A/D convert(no math)
S0 = Fastest integration time (3.3msec)
M1 = SRQ on reading done and Overflow.
G1 = Readings come back with prefix or suffix.
These are listed in the manual on pages 4-15 and 4-16. The Manual on the KI site.
2. The variables come from the front panel of the VI.

Thank You very much now I understand
eg.(Please correct me If I am wrong)
we have a term F%d this means char F will concatenate with %d which is format specifier for integer(like c language).

That is correct.
The letter F is the command and the %d is the variable.
They are concatenated and sent the Model 195A for processing.
And they are only processed when the X command is sent.
