Keithley 2100

Post by workhorse » February 26th, 2014, 7:06 am

Hello!

I don't have much experience with Labview. I have been trying to connect to Keithley 2100 multimeter and I was getting the error:

################################
<ERR> Keithley 2110 Error Query;
instrument reports:
-113,"Undefined header"
+0,"NO ERROR"
################################

I traced it, and found out that there was a semicolon at the Reset Command in the Reset.vi. I erased it and it works fine now. I can run the Initialize.vi and the examples. Nevertheless I cannot connect with Labview Signal Express, I get:

################################
Error -1074134964 occurred at ivi_IviDmm Initialize With Options.vi

Possible reason(s):

Primary Error: (Hex 0xBFFA004C) The option string parameter contains an entry with an unknown option value.
Elaboration: Ke2100: The True value in the option string is unknown.
Interchange checking is not supported by the driver.

Complete call chain:
ivi_IviDmm Initialize With Options.vi
ivi_subDMMGetReleaseSession.vi
ivi_IVIDMMInitializeData.vi
ivi_IVIDMMInvokeCommand.vi
################################

Does anyone experienced this kind of problems?

Wow...this covers two very different drivers.

Keithley 2100 Series Native LabVIEW 8.5 Instrument Driver version 1.3It seems that yes you are correct the Model 2110 is ok with trailing semicolons, but the Model 2100 is not.
So removing the trailing semicolon is the right thing to do to avoid erros.
Otherwise the driver should work for you.
We make a note to log this problem against the driver.
Thanks for the feedback.

2100/2110 IVI-COM Driver Version 1.0.2
Not sure which version of the driver you are using with NI Signal Express, the latest version is 1.0.2
I was able to use the 2100 with IVI DMM Acquire successfully.
Open NI Max and check your settings on the IVI Drivers -> Driver Sessions tree.
Find the driver session that you created for MODEL_2100_at_USB.
Edit this session on the General tab to only check the following Initialization Options
- Range Check
- Query Instrument Status
Then save your changes and reattempt to use the 2100 with IVI DMM Acquire.

It´s Working!
Thanx!

All the 5 initialization options were checked. Only let the ones you said checked, and it is working now.

Beside the introduction to SCPI that comes in the user's manual, is there any other reference to SCPI that I could use.

By the way, don't know if you have this on the current models. When your are connected to more than one multimeter, it would be useful to have the serial number on the front panel. ;)
