Kusb 488 and Excel

Post by felipesass » October 30th, 2012, 12:27 pm

Hi,

I have a KUSB 488b device. I want to use this device in Excel writing my own code on visual basic.

My computer runs on a win 7 64 bits platform and my Excel version is 2010.

How should I proceed?

Thanks

the KUSB-488B driver supports Visual Basic.
Look in the user manual for specific instructions on how to use VB with the KUSB-488B.
Here is the link to the manual...

The file should have been installed on your system when you installed the driver.
it should be at
C:\Program Files\Keithley Instruments\KI-488\Include

The following is from the release notes of version 3.12 of the driver.

Supported Operating Systems

Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) with Service Pack 1 or later

Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) with Service Pack 2 or later

Windows XP (32-bit) with Service Pack 3 or later

Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 plus update KB891861 or later

I am runing on a 64 bits system, but the include files are on C:\Program Files (x86)\Keithley Instruments\KI-488\include.

In this folder there is a file named GPIB.bas, that should work, but all declarations are for a 32 bit system.

Can you send me the file for a 64 bits system?

Just because you are on a 64-bit system does not mean that you have to build a 64-bit solution.
You can build a 32-bit solution on a 64-bit machine (you should researchwow64 and SysWOW64).

But before you proceed, please read the release notes for the GPIB driver to better understand this drivers' capabilities.

At the end of the release notes you will see the section entitled "Driver Support Information".
This should help you determine what you can and can't do with 64 bits vs. 32 bits.
For instance, Ieee_32m.dll is 32-bit only.
