2306 Sense Impedance?

Post by IvorBowden » May 1st, 2013, 6:47 pm

What is the impedance of the 2306 sense inputs? Specifically, how much series resistance can I have in the sense lines without affecting accuracy?

The 2306 has an effective 10Meg input impedance on the sense lines. The 2306 has a .05% accuracy spec.

With 500ohm in each sense lead, the accuracy would be degraded by 1K/10Meg or .0001 or .01%.

But

In reality, the +sense lead has a 10Meg to internal ground, the –sense is high impedance.
So only resistance in the +sense lead will affect accuracy. So 1K in the +sense lead will affect accuracy by 1K/10Meg or .01%.
1K in the –sense lead will not affect accuracy. I wouldn’t go crazy on impedance on the –sense input, there is some leakage currents in the 1na range.

Thanks Dale!
Useful information for my application.
