measurement of frequency drift and pulse length drift

Post by PSOIDFUV-A87 » January 30th, 2014, 1:48 pm

Hi,
how can I calibrate and verify the frequency and pulse length of the pulse from a function generator? How can I know that the pulse width is not varying slowly, say, over the course of 15 minutes, by, say, 5%? How can I know that the frequency of the pulse train is also not slowly varying by about 5%? How does one make such a measurement?

This might be a better application for the FCA3000, FCA3100 counter from Tektronix. There is a trend plot for measurements that could be useful, and TimeView software for graphing trends over long periods of time.
